- What kind of randomness do you use?
- We use crypto.getRandomValues(), a true CSPRNG (Cryptographically Secure Pseudo-Random Number Generator) built into modern runtimes. This provides high-quality randomness suitable for security-sensitive applications, simulations, and creative tools.
- Can I use this for gambling or lottery applications?
- Random MCP is not certified for regulated gambling or lottery use. However, it is excellent for games, simulations, creative applications, A/B testing, procedural generation, and any scenario where high-quality randomness is needed.
- What's the rate limit?
- Rate limits are based on your plan tier. Free plans get 10 requests per second, Pro plans get 100 requests per second, and Enterprise plans have no rate limit. If you need higher throughput, upgrade your plan or contact us.
- Is the MCP server free?
- Yes, the MCP server is always free and open source. You can connect it to any MCP-compatible AI agent without an API key. API keys are only needed for the REST API endpoints.
- Do you store my API responses?
- We log metadata (endpoint, timestamp, response time) for analytics and monitoring purposes. We never store the actual random values generated. Your randomness is ephemeral by design.
- Can I self-host?
- The MCP server can be self-hosted and runs anywhere Node.js does. The REST API requires our hosted service, which provides managed infrastructure, monitoring, and guaranteed uptime.
